Bhattacharyya, MD, “Historically the term was derived from the Greeks in
reference to the idea that it was sudden and therefore akin to
being struck down by violence. However, the term brain attack has
come into favor because it is more descriptive of what is actually happening
and to convey an urgent call to action in the same way that heart attack
would.”
