What's the best thing a woman can do for her skin? Sunscreen. Everyone should protect her skin from the damaging effects of the sun’s harmful rays and also use a good topical antioxidant to help neutralize free radicals.

What is the biggest mistake women make with their skin? Waiting until they see visible signs of aging. It's important to take a proactive approach when it comes to keeping skin healthy.

Why did you become an aesthetician? I have two cousins who are aestheticians and I have always found skin intriguing, but it was while I was a student in my clinical rotations for surgical technology that I gravitated toward plastic surgery. I felt that skin health and plastic surgery would complement each other perfectly.

What do you like about your job? It's rewarding for me to see how our patients’ lives are changed for the better by giving them the confidence that comes with feeling good about the face that greets them when they look in the mirror. They may have been living with acne or a nose that they may have never liked or were teased about as a child.

When I was training with Dr. Richard Parfitt in surgery I remember a particular patient who had come in to have her bandages removed after a rhinoplasty (nose surgery). Hugging Dr. Parfitt, she said, “Thank you, thank you this is the nose I have always wanted.”

I am lucky to work for a truly gifted surgeon.
